I need to quit my Diet Pepsi addication now!!

Day 1:    I am seriously addicted to Diet Pepsi and have been for years.  It is nothing for me to consme the equivalent of 12-14 cans of DP in one day.  Sound ridiculous?  It is but there are several reasons/excuses for the number.  First of all, I am a Type 1 diabetic and drinks are limited.  I can't just drnk OJ, cranberry juice, milk all the time because of the carbs.  Most diabetics rely on diet sodas to help with ther liquid intake.  My usage is over the top and I think I am feeling poorly because of the ingredients involved (aspartame, caffeine, carbonation, etc.).  As with any addiction (and this is my worst form of addiction) this will be extremely tough.  It has become a comfortable friend just like cigarettes to smokers.

I don't have any other real addictions: I don't really gamble, drink, smoke, swear or indulge in other vices.  I am not a prude but as a diabetic you have to really monitor yourself.  I need to change this addiction and see if my muscles feel better, feel more alert and rested, stomach and neck pain gs away, see if blood sugars stabilize more.

I will keep this blog posted and see if anybody else out there is having similar problems.   I am going cold turkey, no phase out period.  I have tried th phase out before and it does not work for me.  Waiting for the monster headaches.

Has been 18 hours since my last Diet Pepsi!!

  1. Hey Mike,

I wanted to stop by and thank you for the comment on my site, www.dietdrinkaddiction.com, I really appreciate that.

I am also excited to read your new journey in breaking the diet pepsi addiction. I know first hand the struggles, the pains, and the feelings of quitting. But I know you can do it, if I did, anyone can!

Keep up the great work, and keep us posted as you progress.
